Israel Amrousi

She is looking at the picture in which nurses cross the path leading to the Malben Hospital which was set up in the neighbourhood and underwent many transformations over the years. In 1949, the eldest son of of Esther and Abraham Amrousi, who had just immigrated from Tunisia to Israel, got sick and was taken to hospital. His mother was told to go home, and the next day she was told that her son had died. She was not allowed to see the body or take care of the burial. For many years the parents did not want to talk of what happened, and about their son who disappeared as if he had never existed.
