Yaacov Gorji

My parents, Abraham and Meriam Gorji, made Aliyah in 1951 to the Pardes Hana transit camp. When my mother was pregnant with me, my brother Yaakov was kidnapped. My mother told me that he was sick, so they him to the hospital – afterwards they notified them that the he got better and they should come take him.

When my mother and my cousin arrived at the hospital in Hadera, they told my cousin not to enter. My mother was told that he died. When news got to my grandfather, due to the sorrow he had a heart attack on the spot and died. I was born at October 1952 and Yaakov was born in Persia a year or two before me.

My father used to repeat the sentence "We were cheated" in Persian again and again.

I have been through many things in my life, I lost a lot of friends in the Yom Kippur War fighting the Syrians, I believe in the value of life and I think that he who saves one soul of Israel, it is if he saved a whole world. I hope we find my brother Yaakov.
