Tova and Yaakov Shamir (Sha'ibi)

Our story begins with two beautiful, kind, and innocent parents.

My late father, Yaakov Shamir made aliya on his own from Iran when he was 17 years old, and my mother made aliya with her family from Afghanistan when she was 4 years old. Her name is Tova.

My parents married in Tel Aviv on the 18.12.46.

I assume that my sister Margalit was born at the beginning of 1948. 4 days later my mother came home and feeling very weak. The baby also seemed a little unwell to my parents and my father decided to take her to Hadassah Hospital, where she was born. They told him, "come back tomorrow."

The next day my father came back and was told that the baby died. My father did not question them and returned home to tell my mother the bitter news.

I would like to point out that at that time my father's last name was Sha'eibi and only later, at Ben Gurion's request, did it change to Shamir.

A year later, my late mother gave birth to a son who probably died at the last moment, during childbirth. The nurse placed him on the floor. A doctor came in and shouted at her and she picked him up and placed him in the bed next to my mother.

He was born on 8.2.1950

I was born on March 10, 1951, and that's why I was called Tahiya, so I live.

After that, my brother Yehiel was born on 27.11.52

Then Tikva on 25.1.54

Neely - 20.2.55

Ora - 23.8.57

Dina - 21.4.59

Nava - 27.1.62

Oded - 27.11.63

My late brother Yechiel, who died of a heart attack when he was 53 years old, found Margalit's death certificate and a record of the burial place in the Hadassah archives in Nachalat Yitzhak, about 15 years ago. I, myself, went there was nothing. A desolate land without any sign. Unfortunately, this document has disappeared from my house.

My parents are no longer alive, but we, the brothers, remain missing and in our hearts we hope to find our sister Margalit.
